Relaxing at last!
We're relaxing at last in our home away from home in Kaua'i.  We barely made it out of town last week.  Sarah had to shovel a path through the snow to get to our cab, then the cab was fishtailing down the street trying to get us to the airport.  We ultimately made it to Kaua'i but our bags were stuck overnight in San Francisco.  Laurie & I had a ton of work to do when we got here:  Laurie had charts to finish, some major office equipment purchases to negotiate, and end of year billing to complete.  I ended up working a few days because my work web site was hacked.  At last we're hanging out at the pool and enjoying the sun (Laurie, Sarah & Kim are in the center chairs in the picture).  We're glad we escaped the brutal cold and constant snow this past week in Chicago (most days the "high" temperature was below 10 F).  Our neighbor is checking our house (and watching Cassie!) to be sure that the ~60 F weather today in Chicago doesn't cause our basement to flood!

Laurie's sister, Brenda, is trying to join us for the second week.  She was supposed to fly in last night from LA but landed in Honolulu shortly before the entire island of Oahu lost power!  She stayed the night in the airport with her son, Eli, and hopes to join us this afternoon on Kaua'i.  It's always an adventure traveling with us!
Update: Brenda and Eli managed to get on a stand-by flight mid morning so they're relaxing and enjoying the beautiful view!
