Grammy concert

Last night's Grammy Signature School Award concert was spectacular, and you can watch it on-line through the New Trier web site (Real Audio player required). One of Kim's friends, also a graduating senior, stayed up until ~2 am to load the concert so you could enjoy it! There is also a news clip from the local CBS affiliate (I don't know how long that will be on-line!) interviewing students and talking about New Trier's amazing music program.
Kim played in three portions of the program: The opening fanfare (first ~2 minutes), the Symphonic Wind Ensemble (~24 minutes), and the Symphony Orchestra (~50 minutes).
It was also announced last night that New Trier's Symphony Orchestra was named the best high school classical ensemble in the country in the June 2007 issue of Downbeat Magazine! They sure sounded great last night.
If you've got the time, the rest of the concert was pretty amazing, and the tributes to past and present teachers and students were impressive. I especially enjoyed the Jazz Ensemble I performance, another nationally recognized New Trier group. We enjoyed last night's performance so much that we watched much of it when we got home (rebroadcast on our local cable provider ~15 minutes after the show ended).
We're proud of Kim's participation and contribution to this amazing program, and proud of all the New Trier students! What a way to end her last day of school (she just has to go back for a few hours next week to pick up her yearbook then go to graduation).
