Too busy to blog!
As previously mentioned I'm now working full-time at DePaul University. I started on May 22nd working in a bioinformatics group at DePaul's CTI (School of Computer Science, Telecommunications and Information Systems). I'll be helping develop Java software applications to analyze proteomics data generted by our collaborators at the University of Chicago. The ultimate goal is to characterize and quantitate phosphorylated proteins generated by cancer cells. We're also writing software that can be used by other scientists to study proteins in general.

I commute ~ 1 1/4 hour each way on the El most days, except the day I drive to the U of C to work with our collaborators. I enjoy having time to read on the El, and have a lot of reading to do as I come up to speed on the scientific equipment used (mass spectrometer) and the software. (I'll see how I feel about the commute in the winter!) I feel like a kid in a candy shop, finally being able to work on the computational side of biochemistry! Here's a link to the main site for our group.
