The Palm Is Dead - Long Live the Palm (TX)!
Over winter break my Palm died. I was checking something, and it froze then the screen looked like it was melting in front of me! Luckily, I bought it at Best Buy and had a replacement contract so a couple of weeks ago I got my new Palm TX handheld.
Historically, I've had a
- Palm Vx (purchased in 1999),
replaced by
- Palm M130
- Palm 505
- Palm 515
- Zire 72
- Palm T|X...
I don't know what this says about their engineering, but it shows they're indespensible once you get the key contacts and events of your life digitalized.
The T|X has a ton of memory (128 MB), a huge screen (the writing area collapses/retracts), can switch from portrait to landscape mode, and comes with WiFi for wireless Internet access at home (also comes with Bluetooth, but I don't have any use for that yet). The web access is nice to quickly look something up on Google (where else?), but it's painful for heavy duty browsing because their web browser has limited support for Javascript, etc., and doesn't support Flash. Still, it's better than what I had and I'll gladly continue evolving along the Palm product tree! Stay tuned.
