Google tinkerers make data come alive
Maybe we can use this someday to build a virtual map of the human genome or chromosomes.
June 10 Update: Here's a link to the Chicago Crime Statistics Googlized Map. You can search by ZIP code (try 60601, our old ZIP code, which includes Navy Pier or 60611 for the area near Northwestern Medical School & the Water Tower Place). Clicking on the little bubbles reveals details of the crime (color coded; Red for crimes against a person & Green for property crimes). The web developer is trying to get the Chicago Police Department's cooperation for real-time statistics, and other cities (such as San Francisco) are exploring using this technology!
