Larry's first Screencast
As I mentioned in an earlier posting, I've begun experimenting with Screencasting as a way of illustrating how to use a web application. Basically, Screencasting involves recording something from the computer screen, recording voice narration, and then publishing it as a file that others can view on the web. My first screencast is an illustration of why I love Firefox as a replacement for Microsoft's web browser, Internet Explorer. The screencast is about 4 minutes in length, and is coming from my home computer so it may take a few minutes to load. The video is producted using Flash, so you shouldn't have to install anything to view the demo. Here's a screenshot of the video:
Here's some background on Screencasting:
- Jon Udall's Screencasting site has a collection of links to articles and on-line demos
- Jon Udall writes for InfoWorld; here's one of his postings on screencasting
I've added a screencast showing how to update the web site I built for Laurie's practice using Medem.com. The screencast is available on-line here.
