Bush's "Silent Majority" revealed?

A story on CNN caught my eye, saying, in effect, the reason the exit poles in November predicted a Kerry victory was because Bush supporters were undercounted. The CNN report offers several explanations, but I'd like to offer additional suggestions that they were undercounted because either they were

• too shy,
• afraid to admit they voted for Bush,
• or lied to the exit pollsters.

Does this mean Bush is relying on a "Silent Majority", much like Richard Nixon?!? A scary parallel...
